Texas tops Tulsa 3-1 in game marred by penalties

The Texas Brahmas took down the Tulsa Oilers, 3-1, in a game characterized by a plethora of penalties on both sides.

Texas was led by Adam Hogg, who registered one goal. Hogg scored 18:03 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Erik Spady assisted on the tally.

The the Brahmas penalty box was a busy place as the team totaled five minors and four majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. Texas surpassed its season average of 13 penalty minutes per game. The Brahmas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Texas got a goal from Chad Woollard as well. In addition, Texas received assists from Jim Burichin, Phil Fox, and TJ Fox, who each chipped in one.

Tulsa was often in penalty trouble, totaling three minors and four majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The Oilers had been averaging 15 minutes in penalties per game. Tulsa stifled Texas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Oilers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Tulsa puts an average of three pucks into the net per game.

The Oilers were led by Gio Flamminio, who scored the team's only goal. Flamminio scored 16:48 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Tulsa. Jeff Terminesi picked up the assist.

Mark Guggenberger turned away 23 pucks between the pipes for the Brahmas. Texas registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Ian Keserich recorded 22 saves for Tulsa. The Oilers ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Cramer was ejected from the game.
