Evansville beats Fort Wayne 3-0 as Pelletier gains shutout

Pier-Olivier Pelletier was superb between the pipes for the Evansville IceMen, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Fort Wayne Komets.

Evansville pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The IceMen were paced by Matt Pierce, who registered one goal and one assist. Pierce scored 19:24 into the third period to make the score 3-0 Evansville. Matt Gens assisted on the tally.

Evansville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The IceMen featured an improved defense during the game. Evansville gives up two goals on average per game.

Evansville also got points from Pierce, who also registered one goal and one assist. Evansville got a goal from John Ronan as well. More assists for Evansville came via Nicklas Lindberg and Steve Makway, who contributed one each.

Fort Wayne's offense operated below it season average. The Komets average three goals per game. By firing 33 shots on goal, Fort Wayne exceeded the 28 shots it averages per game this year.

The Komets were led by Bobby Chaumont, who took six shots.

Pelletier recorded 33 saves for the IceMen. Evansville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Komets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
