Rapid City vanquishes Missouri in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Collin Circelli scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Rapid City picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (1-0 SO) win over the Missouri Mavericks.

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout.

Rapid City's offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25 shots per game it averages.

Rapid City was led by Circelli, who finished with one goal. Circelli scored 12:56 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Rapid City. Andrew Smale assisted on the tally. Rapid City got a goal from Kelly Czuy as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Riley Weselowski, who had two and Dominic DAmour and Shawn Limpright, who contributed one each.

Missouri forced Rapid City goalie Tim Boron to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

The Mavericks were led by Tristin Llewellyn, who racked up one goal and one assist. Llewellyn scored on the power play 4:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. Missouri had gained a power play chance when Konrad Reeder was whistled for goalie interference. Dale Mahovsky picked up the assist. Ed McGrane also scored for Missouri. More assists for Missouri came via Patrick Schafer, Andrew Courtney, John-Scott Dickson, and Sebastien Thinel, who each chipped in one.

Boron recorded 36 saves for Rapid City. Rapid City totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Mavericks' Charlie Effinger stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Missouri totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
