Texas uses shootout to best Allen, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Ross Rouleau scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Texas Brahmas picked up the extra point in a 2-1 (2-1 SO) win over Allen.

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Allen's shootout goal was scored by Colton Yellow Horn. Texas' other shootout goal was scored by Phil Fox.

The Brahmas came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Texas trailed 1-0 after a goal by Allen's Joshua Hepditch at 18:36 in the first period. The Brahmas knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Brendon Hodge at 9:25 in the second period.

Allen was stymied by Texas netminder Mark Guggenberger, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. The solid play of Guggenberger will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.84.

The Brahmas managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Texas finished below its season average of 13 penalty minutes per game. The Brahmas failed to reach their usual level of shot production, putting 18 pucks on goal after averaging 24 shots per game this season.

Texas was led by Rouleau, who took two shots.

Allen managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Allen wound up below its season average of 21 penalty minutes per game. Allen could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Allen averages three goals per game.

In addition, Allen received assists from Jarret Lukin and Jim McKenzie, who contributed one each.

The Brahmas registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Rejean Beauchemin turned away 16 pucks between the pipes for Allen. Allen registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
