Evansville squeaks by Tulsa, 4-2

The Evansville IceMen and the Tulsa Oilers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Evansville made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Todd Robinson secured the win for the IceMen with a goal in the third period.

Robinson had one goal and two assists to lead Evansville. Robinson scored on the power play 6:50 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Evansville. The IceMen had gained a power play chance when Jason Weeks was whistled for tripping. Matt Gens assisted on the tally.

Evansville had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. The leading offender was Philippe Plante, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Brian Bicek also scored for Evansville. In addition, Evansville received assists from Chad Langlais, who had one.

The 33 shots that Tulsa put on net surpassed the Oilers' average of 23 shots per game this season.

Tulsa was helped by Dylan Clarke, who finished with one goal and one assist. Clarke scored on the power play 7:44 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Oilers earned a power play opportunity when Langlais was put in the box for tripping. Jay Sprague provided the assist. Tulsa additionally got points from Mike Ullrich, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Michel Beausoleil, who had one.

Pier-Olivier Pelletier turned away 31 pucks between the pipes for the IceMen. Evansville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Tulsa's Steve Christie stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Oilers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
