The Dayton Gems tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Tulsa Oilers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. A goal by David Solway put Tulsa up 4-1 in the second period, but Dayton pulled to within two on Jonathan Ornelas' tally 4:48 into the third period. The Oilers were led by Mike Ullrich, who registered one goal. Ullrich scored on the power play 16:27 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Tulsa. Tulsa had taken the advantage when the Gems' Ornelas got sent off for interference. Gerome Giudice assisted on the tally. With 32 shots on target during the contest, the Oilers exceeded the 22 shots they average per game this year. Tulsa got a goal from Dylan Clarke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Jeff Terminesi, who had two and Gio Flamminio and Gary Steffes, who each chipped in one. Dayton was helped by Damian Surma, who racked up one goal. Surma scored 6:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dayton. Nick Fanto picked up the assist. More assists for Dayton came via Tim Hartung, who had one. Steve Christie recorded 26 saves for Tulsa. The Oilers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Larry Sterling made 28 saves for the Gems on 32 shots.
