The Jamestown Ironmen suffered their second consecutive loss in Robertson Cup Tournament action Saturday night, as the Wenatchee Wild ran away with a 5-2 victory.

The Wild got off to a quick start in this one and took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. The West Division champions dominated the first period, with 10 shots on goal to Jamestown’s three.

The second was more of the same as Wenatchee piled on two more goals within the first 8:48 of the period. The 4-0 lead didn’t stand for long as Daniel Cesarz got the Ironmen on the board with a goal only 25 seconds later off of a Tyler Dunagan assist. Both defenses tightened up not to allow anymore goals in the second period. The Ironmen were once again outshot, this time, 11 – 4.

Victor Johansson scored an unassisted goal to bring the Ironmen to within two goals, 8:51 into the third period. Jamestown’s comeback hopes were slashed by a Wild goal with 1:40 left in the game to seal the 5-2 victory for Wenatchee.

After going 6-0 throughout the division playoffs, Jamestown’s chances of capturing a North American Hockey League Championship are very slim after their second loss in Frisco, Texas.

Jamestown must now defeat the third-place Bismarck Bobcats (1-2) when the pair square off at 8:30 tonight. The Ironmen destiny falls outside of their control as they will rely on Amarillo, the defending Robertson Cup champions, to topple Wenatachee beforehand - that game is slated for 5:30 p.m. - to have any shot of reaching the championship game.

Jamestown’s game will be televised in Sully’s Irish Pub inside the JSB Arena with a puck drop set for 8:30 pm.
