Six Will County CrackerJacks proudly represented their club on Wednesday night at the 2012 Midwest Collegiate League All-Star game in Lisle, Ill.
They teamed with fellow South Division All-Stars to knock off the North Division 3-2.
All but Jack Rogalla made an appearance in the game, which was managed by CrackerJacks Manager Vern Hasty (South), the 2011 MCL Manager of the Year, and Mike Siwiec (North), manager of the DeKalb County Liners.
Right-hander Ben Gullo started the game for the South and earned the victory for his club by tossing a perfect frame with one strikeout. The South picked up two runs in the top of the second inning to put Gullo in a position to win the game and never trailed. Fellow Will County hurler Matt Borens also worked a perfect inning in the sixth that featured two strikeouts.
Infielder Daniel Nevares went 0-for-3 at the plate but played all nine innings for the South All-Stars at shortstop. Outfielder Mitch Elliott picked up a walk and was the only CrackerJack position player to reach base, as Michael Vilardo checked into the game in the middle innings and went 0-for-2.
Southland's Chris Stevens was the game's most valuable player.
The CrackerJacks return to the field on Friday night against Southland. First pitch from Brennan Field is slated for 7 p.m.
