Due to a series of unforeseen events, Will County CrackerJacks’ management has announced their resignation from the Midwest Collegiate League. The resignation is effective immediately.

“We wish Commissioner Don Popravak and the Midwest Collegiate League the very best,” said CrackerJacks General Manager Jamie Toole. “We look forward to pursuing other opportunities for the CrackerJacks baseball club in the near future.”

Also leaving the Midwest Collegiate League are the Illinois Lincolns.  The withdrawal is also effective immediately.

The CrackerJacks and Lincolns will play eight games to conclude the 2012 season.  The games will benefit players, coaches and fans of both teams and give them additional collegiate baseball experience.

Will County and Illinois will play a three-game series this weekend (July 20-22) at Brennan Field.  Game times are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night.  Sunday’s game begins at 2 p.m.

Next week, the CrackerJacks and Lincolns will take part in the 2012 Battle for Will County, a five-game playoff series that will determine who is the top summer collegiate club in Will County.

The first three games of the series will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (July 24-26) at Joliet Junior College’s Wayne King, Jr. Field.  Games four and five will be played at Brennan Field on Friday and Saturday (July 27-28).  All games played in Joliet will begin at 5 p.m.  Games at Brennan Field will start at 7 p.m.
