The Marist College Hockey Program will be celebrating its 40th year in 2018. The team is pleased to announce its means of celebrating Red Fox alumni in celebration of the historic anniversary: the creation of the Marist Hockey Hall of Fame.
A ceremony will be held at 12pm at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 during the annual alumni luncheon. Once the Marist Alumni Skate, held that morning, is complete, Red Foxes past and present are cordially invited to attend a banquet commemorating the inaugural five inductees to the Marist Hockey Hall of Fame.
This year, the honorees are: Jim McDonald (class of ‘84), Robert Trabulsi (‘85), Timothy Graham (‘86), Kevin Walsh (‘91), and Brad Kamp (‘95).
Friends and family are strongly encouraged to attend the induction ceremony. Marist College will also be taking on Wagner College at the Civic Center later that day.
McDonald, Trabulsi and Graham each rank in the top five all-time in career scoring. Walsh was a defenseman for four years before coaching the Red Foxes to two MCHC titles and the National Final Four. Kamp backstopped the Foxes to their first league title in 1992 and ranks as one of the winningest goalies in school history. He later became an assistant coach.
Each of McDonald, Trabulsi, Graham and Walsh served as team captains in their careers.
Induction is determined by a panel of current and former Marist coaches and select media members, headed by Hall of Fame Chairman Brian Pecchia (‘08). Pecchia is a former team captain and defenseman of three years. He is currently in his sixth season as assistant coach of the Red Foxes.
The voting process was aided by the creation of “Mockey Reference,” a player index and statbook chronicling details back to the Marist Hockey team’s inception in 1978. The reference page was created and researched by Hall of Fame Vice-Chairman Casey Bryant (‘17). Bryant has provided independent media coverage and play-by-play commentary for the Marist Hockey team for four years.
“Mockey Reference” can be found on the Facebook and Twitter pages of Bryant’s media outlet, “Rant Sessions Media” (@RantSessionsMAR).
The Marist Hall of Fame would like to thank for their assistance and participation: Executive Director of Alumni Relations Amy Woods, Marist Athletics, head coach Michael Beck, former head coach Bob Simmons, assistant coach Randy Hurlbert, assistant coach Nick Longo, Matthew McNamara, Robert DeLuca and Nick Rudzewick.
