BURLINGTON wins tough contest against CAMBRIDGE, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, BURLINGTON escaped with a 3-2 victory over CAMBRIDGE.

BURLINGTON gained the winning advantage on a goal by Isabelle Mastantuono 19:49 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

BURLINGTON was led by Mastantuono, who grabbed one goal.

BURLINGTON managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. BURLINGTON ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game.

BURLINGTON additionally got points from Aimee Raithby, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. BURLINGTON also got a goal from Melissa Bieman as well. In addition, BURLINGTON received assists from Brinnley Holmes, Megan Laviolette, and Keanna Oshowy, who contributed one each.

CAMBRIDGE was helped by Julia Spitzig, who registered one goal. Spitzig scored 6:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 CAMBRIDGE. Makayla Porter assisted on the tally. Jamiee MacDonald also scored for CAMBRIDGE. Other players who recorded assists for CAMBRIDGE were Emma Rowbotham, Katherine Birkby (PU), and Meghan Anton, who each chipped in one.

Dagny Hudspeth made 22 saves for BURLINGTON on 24 shots. BURLINGTON registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. CAMBRIDGE's Allisa Hitchen stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that she faced. CAMBRIDGE finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-1 with the man advantage.
