BURLINGTON wins tough contest against CAMBRIDGE, 3-2

The game between SOUTHWEST and LONDON was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end SOUTHWEST emerged with a 4-2 win.
Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Sofia Smithson secured the win for SOUTHWEST with a goal in the third period.
SOUTHWEST was sparked by Smithson, who grabbed one goal. Smithson scored 4:53 into the third period to make the score 3-2 SOUTHWEST. Savannah Bouzide (A) provided the assist.
SOUTHWEST put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow LONDON to score on any of its three power plays.
SOUTHWEST also got points from Jessica Jeffery, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for SOUTHWEST included Gioia Diciocco and Avery Mertz, who scored one goal each. In addition, SOUTHWEST received assists from Olivia Kireta, who had one.
LONDON's offense rang up 41 shots on SOUTHWEST's net.
LONDON was helped by Melanie Clayton, who registered one goal. Clayton scored 4:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LONDON. Calista Mann picked up the assist. LONDON also got a goal from Katie Heath as well. More assists for LONDON came via Emma McKnight, who had one.
SOUTHWEST's Emily OBright stopped 39 shots out of the 41 that she faced. SOUTHWEST incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Breana Beauchamp recorded 13 saves for LONDON. LONDON incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
