2012 Team Banquet
Date: Aug 3, 2012

For the second weekend in a row, the Pacers dropped back-to-back games with a mid week win sandwiched between. It is not the kind of result you are looking for if you're hoping to get to the post season but the Pacers have some games remaining in their schedule in which they are capable of pulling off a win.
The temperature in the building was cooler this game than it was on Saturday's, but it heated up quickly on the floor. Windsor reeled off goal after goal against starter Ian Ferguson and by the time the first period ended, the Clippers were leading by a score of 8-0. Justin Matthews came in to relieve Ferguson to begin the second and made some key saves but even he couldn't withstand all the shots directed his way.
Sarnia would finally get on the scoreboard to make it 9-1 on a Dan Charlton goal before the period was two minutes in. The Clippers bulged the twine to restore their nine goal lead at 5:33 and things stayed quiet - for about half a minute and that's when the first bout of the game took place. Sarnia's top scorer - Dan Charlton - battled Hodgins and each of them landed a few before they made their way to the sin bin. The battle seemed to charge up the Pacers bench. A low sweeping hard shot from Aaron Schieman found it's way to the back of the net while the team was on the power play and "fighter" Dan Charlton notched his second of the game about four minutes later. The teams went to the dressing rooms with the Clippers holding a 10-3 lead and down a man to begin the third.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the teams trade goals early in the period - Kevin Hussey getting the marker for the Pacers as they enjoyed yet another power play chance. With Windsor up by eight, bout number two took place near the 8:30 mark between Sarnia's Brandon Burr and Ziriada of Windsor (who had been in the sin bin that led to the power play goal earlier this period as well as putting his team short to start the third). After a bit of a stare down, they each went for the other's buckets but it seemed as though they were welded onto the heads of the two would-be fighters. Eventually they tumbled to the floor, the refs stepped in and the two players made their way to serve their minor (roughing) and major (fighting) penalties.
A couple more goals by Windsor were netted before bouts 3 & 4 took place. With just over four minutes left in the period, Dan Gawne took on Burchell of Windsor. About three minutes later it was Sarnia's Kyle Conroy landing a flurry of punches on Ziriada for whom it was his second fight of the period.
Sarnia will now play a home-and-home with London - the first of them taking place on Wednesday the 8th in London. It's an 8pm start. On Friday, the Pacers host the Blue Devils in a 7pm game.
