BOX SCORE

Team Montenegro only needed 2 and 6 points respectively from guard Edvin Depcevic in their first two victories. But, without leading scorer Ramo Vulic and leading rebounder and assist man Sead Odzic, Montenegro would need a bit more from Depcevic in their third contest. They got in their 63-62 victory over The Shield.

Dapcevic scored a profilic 33 in the victory, the most points scored in any CSL contest this season. He did it with a dangerous jumpshot combined an assortment of mid range shots and runners when the defense overcommitted. And while Dapcevic big game was a giant story in the game, the biggest takeaway was how competitive this game was.

Early on, The Shield looked like they were going to pull away, pushing their lead up to 11 with 5:11 in first half. But by 6:32 in the 2nd, a Emir Vulic steal and breakaway basket gave Montenegro their first lead. The lead would change hands 5 times after that, but The Shield inability to stop Montenegro in transition turned out to be the deciding factor in the game.

It was also a physical game and Montenegro could not of done it without the scrappy play of Emir Vulic, who’s nine rebounds on the box score, understate his lynchpin performance. Sammy Pekovic was also excellent flirting with a triple double, with 12 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds.

The Shield effort was lead by Peale Olatunji who traded trays with Depcevic all game. Olatunji moved into the CSL scoring lead with his 27 points, seven of them from the three point stripe. Jeremy Reynolds, who shook off two rough performances to scored 17, hitting five baskets in a row at one point.

The beginning of the season has been rough to Juice as they move to 0-3, however as they build their team, they continue get better and better. Last week they added Olatunji, this week it was point guard Ronnie Coleman. The point guard chipped in 11 assists and was pretty dynamic in the drive and kick game. Meanwhile Montenegro will need to be full strength next week, they face off against the only other undefeated team, These Guys.
