Week 4: Players of the Week
Date: Feb 15, 2014

In their first game of the season, Team Just the Tip were almost run out of Quest Multisport in a devastating double digit loss against These Guys. It wasn’t a fin introduction to the CSL. But fast forward three weeks and it is now Tip that are handing out the big losses.
Powered by Chris Fuqua’s 28 points, Tip defeated Access One, 71-42. For Fuqua, it was statistically, the best shooting performance of the season for any player this season. He absolutely overwhelmed the Access One frontline, hitting 13 of his16 shots, many of them coming through Tip’s smooth transition game.
Access One was able to keep the team relatively tight for most of the first half. With 2:00 minutes left in the 1st half, they were only down three. But, a 9-0 run to end the quarter, spurred by the Tip bench gave them a lead they would never relinquish. Dean Ramoino and Michael Spartz added 10 a piece for Tip in the winning effort
And although the score line didn’t suggest it, Access One kept the game competitive for most of the contest, thanks two new additions. Center Jabari Saunders was a force inside, scoring 19 points. While his outside shot wasn’t falling, almost any time he put the ball on the floor, Tip was forced to foul or give up a decent look. Access also added swingman Jawad Zayed to the roster on Wednesday, who ball handling and outside shooting was sorely needed. He chipped in 14 points.
But Access had to deal with Tip’s best performance of the season. The improvement started at the line. After shooting 38% at the charity stripe against Juice, they doubled that percentage on Wednesday. But while they were good at the line, they we great from the field. Tip shot a sizzling 66.7%. Not a typo. And when a team buries 2/3 of their shots, it would take a miracle for them to lose. There would be no such miracles on Wednesday.
