Week 4: Players of the Week
Date: Feb 15, 2014

Two teams don’t get much more close than Pippen and Harrison, but Victor Centero’s 24 points on only 11 shots off the bench proved to be the difference for Harrison as they eded Pippen 60-56 in this close contest.
Harrison was able to get the win despite the fact that Pippen took away the excellent production John Bennett, a former CSL Player of the Week provides. Bennett was frustrated by some early foul trouble, but Derrick Walker and co. were excellent on the defensive end against the Harrison big man. Bennett did his own damage defensively though, rejecting 6 shots.
It should be noted that both teams were excellent from the free throw line, with Pippen going perfect from the line, shooting 8 for 8, while Harrison shot 75% of 16 attempts. At least two of the four CSL Week 2 games were decided at the line, this game was not.
Team Pippen likely made a critical error moving from Man to a 2-3 Zone late in the game with the game tied 46-46. Harrison is an excellent perimeter shooting team that typically fields four or five ball handlers on the floor. When matched up with the 2-3 zone, they were able to pass through the zone and get good looks much more easily.
The 2-3 zone also allowed Harrison to eat clock easier late in the game, as they swung the ball across the zone, as Pippen chased a foul. When Pippen did get the ball back, they were probably a bit too anxious to throw up threes. In the last five minutes of the CSL, the clock stops at every dead ball, a rule that afforded Pippen more than enough time to get the lead without throwing up desperation threes.
While the Harrison O was clicking, they had no answer Jackson Genovese of Pippen put together another excellent shooting display, going 11-15 from the field on 24 points. However, that production was not enough.
