For a county of its size, Montenegro has availed itself quite well in the world of basketball. The country has a population similar to Milwaukee, the national team has only been around since 2006, but they have two NBA rising star, starting centers in Nikola Pekovic and Nikola Vucevic that hail from the nation. The CSL version of the Montenegro side held true to its countries’ form in a 65 to 59 win over the Nightmares of Harrison Street.

Montengro sported the best balance of any team on Wednesday, however their two standout performers had very different games. Ramo Vulic scored 26 points, none more important that the four free throws he had in the games’ final minutes. Sead Odzic scored 24 points less than that, but still left a huge mark on the game pulling down an extremely unconventional double-double, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

The Nightmares were no pushover. Center John Bennett submitted his application for the best big in the CSL. He had 5 blocks which certainly sounds impressive, but the magnitude many of the those blocks were even more impressive. He added 17 points on only 11 shots.

Unfortunately, Bennett and the rest of the Nightmares had a ton of opportunities to block shots with all of the layups Montenegro shot. The layups came through the team’s knack to make the extra pass and willingness to wait for high percentages shots. They shot a sizzling 55% from the field

Despite the loss, the Nightmares have a ton to build on. They feature elite  quickness on the perimeter, starting guards Jimmy Sepulveda, Victor Centero and Curtis Childs put tremendous pressure on the defense. However, that pressure was countered by a  victorious Montenegro attack that saw every single player get on the scoreboard.
