Quad City rolls over St. Charles, 5-0

The Quad City Mallards had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-0 win over the St. Charles Chill.

Gergo Nagy was all over the ice for Quad City, as he had two goals in the win. Nagy's tallies came at 10:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City and on the power play 19:09 into the third to make the score 5-0 Quad City.

The Mallards was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Quad City gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. The 36 shots that the Mallards put on net surpassed Quad City's average of 28.6 shots per game this season.

Quad City additionally got points from Jordan Mayer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Quad City included Jeff Lee and Mike Stinziani, who scored one goal each. More assists for Quad City came via Justin Fox, who had two and Michael Monfredo, Nicholas Rioux, Vladimir Nikiforov, and Thomas Frazee, who contributed one each.

St. Charles did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Chill average 2.4 goals per game. By firing 22 shots on goal, St. Charles exceeded the 18.9 shots it averages per game this year.

The Chill were led by John Snowden, who took four shots.

Thomas Heemskerk recorded 22 saves for the Mallards. Quad City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Robert Moss rejected 31 shots on goal for St. Charles. The Chill incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
