Denver outlasts Allen, 3-2

The Denver Cutthroats and the Allen Americans were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Denver made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Vincent Arseneau at 16:24 of the third period.

The Cutthroats were paced by Arseneau, who grabbed one goal.

Others who scored for Denver included Cam Reid and Garett Bembridge, who scored one goal each. More assists for Denver came via Steve Kaunisto, Troy Schwab, AJ Gale, Daniel Barczuk, and Daniel Amesbury, who contributed one each.

Allen's offense was clicking better than usual and put 50 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.7 shots per game it averages.

The Americans were helped by Spencer Asuchak, who tallied one goal. Asuchak scored 17:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Darryl Bootland provided the assist. Allen also got a goal from Greger Hanson as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Tyler Ludwig, Daniel Tetrault, and Jamie Schaafsma, who each chipped in one.

Denver's Kent Patterson stopped 48 shots out of the 50 that he faced. The Cutthroats totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Allen's starting goalie, Bryan Pitton, made 22 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Willie Yanakeff, who stopped zero shots. The Americans totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
