Arizona beats St. Charles 7-1 as Baker gets hat trick

Kevin Baker netted a hat trick to lead the Arizona Sundogs over the St. Charles Chill, 7-1.

Baker notched his first tally 16:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:33 into the second and at 17:59 into the third.

Arizona's Andrew Engelage was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Engelage certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.46 entering the contest.

The Sundogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Charles to score on any of its three power plays. Arizona surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Sundogs average 3.0 goals per game. The 46 shots that Arizona put on net surpassed the Sundogs' average of 21.8 shots per game this season.

Arizona additionally got points from Johan Ryd, who also registered one goal and one assist and David Rutherford, who also had one goal and one assist. Arizona also had goals scored by Jason Morgan and Alex Velischek, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Arizona were Brandon Coccimiglio, who had four, Shawn Limpright and Bryan Cameron, who contributed one each, and Riley Emmerson and Matt McCready, who each chipped in two.

The Chill put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 16.7 they average per game.

St. Charles was led by Michael MacIntyre, who scored the team's only goal. MacIntyre scored 2:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Charles. Nicklas Lindberg assisted on the tally.

Arizona incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Robert Moss rejected 39 shots on goal for the Chill. St. Charles incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
