Adam Pleskach scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Tulsa Oilers held off the challenges of the Wichita Thunder in a tough 3-1 win. A goal 2:51 into the the first period by Pleskach proved to be the game winner, and powered Tulsa to the victory Ryan Menei provided the assist.Wichita was stymied by the Oilers netminder Shane Madolora, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. The solid play of Madolora will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.04. Tulsa was led by Menei, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Menei scored on the power play 9:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Tulsa. The Oilers had gotten the advantage when the Thunder's Jon Booras was sent off for slashing. Pleskach assisted on the tally. Tulsa stifled Wichita's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Oilers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Ben Gordon, Michel Beausoleil and Menei took 14 of the team's 25 shots. Tulsa additionally got points from Pleskach, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tulsa also got a goal from B Macaulay as well. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Nathan Lutz and Jarred Mohr, who each chipped in one. The Thunder were held below their usual level of production. Wichita puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. The Thunder were led by Matt Robinson, who scored the team's only goal. Robinson scored 3:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Tulsa. Ian Lowe provided the assist. Tulsa incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Taylor Nelson made 22 saves for Wichita on 25 shots. The Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
