Ty Rimmer made 35 saves to complete the shutout and led the Quad City Mallards to a 3-0 win against the Brampton Beast. Quad City was paced by Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who tallied one goal. Dieude-Fauvel scored on the power play 6:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City. The Mallards had gotten the advantage when Brampton's Rob Collins was sent off for hooking. Matt Duffy picked up the assist. Quad City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Mallards was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Quad City averages 2.9 goals allowed per game. Quad City also got points from Thomas Frazee, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Quad City also got a goal from Mike Stinziani as well. More assists for Quad City came via Vladimir Nikiforov, who had one and Jeff Lee, who had two. The Beast could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Brampton puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Beast found themselves short handed often, totaling 19 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Brampton forced the Mallards goalie Rimmer to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Beast were led by Matt Caruana, who took five shots. Quad City ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Kristofer Westblom rejected 22 shots on goal for Brampton. |
