St. Charles uses shootout to best Brampton, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Kyle OKane netted the deciding goal for the St. Charles Chill in the shootout as Chill prevailed over the Brampton Beast, 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Brampton's shootout goal was scored by Scotty Howes. St. Charles also got a shootout goal from Nicklas Lindberg.

In the losing effort, the Beast were led by Jason Pitton, who tallied two goals. Pitton scored the first of his two goals at 1:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Charles. Rob Collins picked up the assist. Pitton's next tally made the score 3-3 with 10:47 left in the third period. Howes assisted on the tally.

The Chill were led by Jordan Fox, who registered one goal and one assist. Fox scored short handed 1:27 into the third period to make the score 3-2 St. Charles.

St. Charles' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Brampton power plays. The Chill's offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 13 shots on net during the game. St. Charles put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.7 it averages per game.

Others who scored for St. Charles included Lindberg and Martin Hlinka, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Charles were John Snowden, who had two.

The Chill were unable to stop Brampton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Beast eventually piled up 52 shots on goal.

Andrew Fournier also scored for Brampton. More assists for Brampton came via Tylor Michel, Matt Caruana, and Jamie VanderVeeken, who contributed one a piece.

Robert Moss made 49 saves for St. Charles on 52 shots. The Chill incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kristofer Westblom recorded 28 saves for Brampton. The Beast incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
