Tulsa stifles Allen's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Tulsa Oilers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Tulsa and clinched a 4-2 victory.

The Oilers led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Tulsa's Michel Beausoleil's scored at 4:24 in the third period to put the Oilers up 3-0.

Tulsa was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and four majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Oilers had been spending in the box. Tulsa was below its usual level of shot production, taking 21 shots compared to the 29.8 the Oilers average.

Tulsa was helped by Brandon Coccimiglio, who finished with one goal. Coccimiglio scored 2:52 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Tulsa. Jarred Mohr picked up the assist. Tulsa additionally got points from Ben Gordon, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tulsa also got a goal from Ryan Cramer as well. More assists for Tulsa came via Kyle Bochek, who had two and Ross MacKinnon, Nathan Lutz, and Todd Robinson, who each chipped in one.

The the Allen Americans penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and four majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Allen surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. The Americans put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Oilers to score on any of their five power plays. Allen's offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.9 shots per game it averages. The Americans' defensemen bolstered Allen's offensive attack, as they bombarded MacKinnon with 14 shots.

The Americans were led by John Snowden, who had one goal and one assist. Snowden scored 4:41 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Tulsa. Spencer Asuchak provided the assist. Daniel Tetrault also scored for Allen. In addition, Allen received assists from Kale Kerbashian, who had one.

MacKinnon recorded 28 saves for Tulsa. The Oilers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alexandre Beauregard was ejected from the game. Allen's Bryan Pitton stopped 17 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Americans registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
