Rapid City tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but the Missouri Mavericks held on for a 3-2 victory. A goal by Colt King put Missouri up 3-0 in the second period, but Rapid City pulled to within one on Jesse Schultz's tally 15:39 into the third period. King had two goals to lead the Mavericks to victory. Missouri put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.5 it averages per game. Sebastien Thinel also scored for Missouri. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Trevor Kell, who had two and Anders Franzon, Matt Stephenson, and Andrew Courtney, who each chipped in one. Rapid City kept the Mavericks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Shane Owen made 44 saves on 46 shots. Rapid City also got a goal from Winston Day Chief as well. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Konrad Reeder, who had two and Riley Weselowski and Jared Brown, who contributed one a piece. Missouri totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Tim Boron rejected 28 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. |
