Brampton hangs on, beats Wichita 3-2

The Brampton Beast took the lead against the Wichita Thunder in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-2 victory.

A goal 11:39 into the the first period by Rob Collins proved to be the game winner, and powered Brampton to the victory Michael MacIsaac picked up the assist.

The Beast's penalty kill excelled, as Brampton gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

The Beast were paced by Jason Pitton, who registered one goal. Pitton scored 15:12 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Brampton.

Brampton stifled Wichita's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Brampton additionally got points from Andrew Fournier, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Brampton received assists from Jamie VanderVeeken, who had one.

The Thunder stifled the Beast's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wichita put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.3 it averages per game.

The Thunder were helped by Jared Walker, who grabbed one goal. Walker scored 10:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Brampton. Jason Wilson provided the assist. Wichita also got points from Mike Wilson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Wichita came via Jon Madden and Jon Booras, who each chipped in one.

Brampton's Grant Rollheiser stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Beast incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Torrie Jung made 20 saves for Wichita on 23 shots. The Thunder incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
