Wichita hangs on, beats Allen 3-2

Kevin Young gave the Wichita Thunder the lead in the first period, and the Allen Americans was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-2.

Wichita took over the lead for good with a goal by Young at 15:12 in the first period. Chad Painchaud picked up the assist.

The Thunder evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

Wichita was paced by Ian Lowe, who tallied one goal. Lowe scored 19:01 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Wichita. Nathan Lutz assisted on the tally.

The Thunder kept Allen's goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Dell made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Wichita also got a goal from Gregor Hanson as well. In addition, Wichita received assists from RG Flath, Neil Trimm, Andrew Martens, and Matt Robinson, who contributed one a piece.

The Americans were helped by Anthony Maiani, who had one goal. Maiani scored 8:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Wichita. Jim McKenzie provided the assist. Brian McMillin also scored for Allen. More assists for Allen came via Trevor Hendrikx, Jason Deitsch, and Darryl Bootland, who each chipped in one.

Wichita's Torrie Jung stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Thunder incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Allen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
