Allen holds on for 3-2 win against Denver

The Denver Cutthroats tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Allen Americans would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Allen made the score 3-1 on a goal by Kale Kerbashian at 19:32 in the second period, and Denver got as close as 3-2 when Brad Smyth scored 19:17 into the third period.

The win by the Americans broke a deadlock and gave Allen a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Brian McMillin had two goals to lead the Americans to victory. McMillin found the back of the net 9:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen and again while on the power play 11:34 into the first to make the score 2-0 Allen.

Allen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cutthroats to score on any of their three power plays.

Allen also got points from Kerbashian, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Allen received assists from Todd Robinson, who had two and Tyler Ludwig, who had three.

The Americans were unable to stop Denver from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cutthroats eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Denver was helped by A.J. Gale, who tallied one goal. Gale scored 7:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Troy Schwab and Ben Wilson, who contributed one a piece.

Aaron Dell rejected 31 shots on goal for Allen. The Americans incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kieran Millan made 27 saves for the Cutthroats on 30 shots. Denver ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major.
