Allen squeaks by Tulsa, 3-2

The Allen Americans gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Tulsa Oilers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Brian McMillin secured the win for Allen with a goal in the third period.

The Americans were led by McMillin, who registered one goal and one assist. McMillin scored on the power play 2:26 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Allen. Allen had taken the advantage when Tulsa's Ryan Menei got sent off for hooking. Trevor Hendrikx assisted on the tally.

The Americans' offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.9 shots per game they average.

Allen also got a goal from Kale Kerbashian as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Chris Doyle, Jason Deitsch, Jamie Schaafsma, and Adam Pineault, who each chipped in one.

The Oilers put 24 shots on net during the contest, more than the 17.8 they average per game. Tulsa's defensemen bolstered the Oilers' offensive attack, as they bombarded Aaron Dell with 11 shots.

Tulsa was helped by Ryan Cramer, who had one goal. Cramer scored 10:40 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Justin Fox picked up the assist. Drew Fisher also scored for Tulsa. More assists for Tulsa came via Ryan Barlock, who had one.

Dell rejected 22 shots on goal for Allen. The Americans totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play. Shane Madolora made 27 saves for the Oilers on 30 shots. Tulsa totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
