Pierce leads xMissouri over xDenver, 8-5

The xMissouri Mavericks' Jeff Pierce had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-5 win over the xDenver Cutthroats.

Pierce scored at 15:20 into the second period to make the score 6-5 xMissouri and again while 11:43 into the third to make the score 8-5 xMissouri.

xMissouri's goal total was higher than its season average. The Mavericks average 3.3 goals per game. With 47 shots on target during the contest, xMissouri exceeded the 20.8 shots it averages per game this year.

xMissouri also got points from Ryan Jardine, who also registered one goal and two assists, Jamie VanderVeeken, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Kellen Tochkin, who also racked up two goals and one assist, John-Scott Dickson, who also had one goal and two assists, and Sebastien Thinel, who also registered one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for xMissouri were Matt Krug, who had one and Trevor Kell, who had four.

By firing 28 shots on goal, xDenver exceeded the 21.4 shots it averages per game this year. The Cutthroats' defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring two goals and taking 13 shots.

xDenver was led by A.J. Gale, who finished with three goals and one assist. xDenver additionally got points from Kyle Quincey, who also tallied one goal and one assist. xDenver also got a goal from Ben Wilson as well. In addition, xDenver received assists from Markus Lauridsen, Brett Lutes, and Steve Makway, who each chipped in one and Troy Schwab and Brad Smyth, who contributed two a piece.

Mike Clemente rejected 23 shots on goal for the Mavericks. xMissouri totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Cutthroats' starting goalie, Kieran Millan, made 23 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Kent Patterson, who stopped 16 shots. xDenver totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
