Fort Wayne rolls over Missouri, 4-1

Mike Vaskivuo had one goal and two assists to lead the Fort Wayne Komets to a 4-1 victory over the Missouri Mavericks.

Vaskivuo scored 2:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Fort Wayne. David Starenky assisted on the tally. Vaskivuo dished an assist on Jamie Milam's goal that made the score 1-0 Fort Wayne at 12:28 into the first period. He added another helper on Colin Chaulk's goal that made the score 3-0 Fort Wayne at 6:08 into the second period.

Fort Wayne evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

The Komets' Nick Boucher was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Boucher certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.75 entering the contest.

Fort Wayne's offense rang up 47 shots on Missouri's net.

Bobby Chaumont also scored for Fort Wayne. More assists for Fort Wayne came via Jamie Lovell, Frankie DeAngelis, Brett Smith, Leo Thomas, and Chris Auger, who contributed one a piece.

The Komets were unable to stop the Mavericks from sending pucks towards the net, and Missouri eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Mavericks were led by Brad Walch, who took two shots.

Fort Wayne totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Charlie Effinger made 43 saves for Missouri on 47 shots. The Mavericks totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
