Missouri downs Fort Wayne in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

John-Scott Dickson gave the Missouri Mavericks a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Fort Wayne Komets when he scored 5:20 into the extra period.

The win gave Missouri a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Mavericks were paced by Dickson, who tallied one goal.

Ed McGrane also scored for Missouri. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were David Simoes and Sebastien Thinel, who each chipped in one.

Fort Wayne kept Missouri's goalie busy throughout the game, and Charlie Effinger made 38 saves on 40 shots.

The Komets were helped by Mike Vaskivuo, who racked up one goal. Vaskivuo scored 1:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fort Wayne. Colin Chaulk picked up the assist. Fort Wayne also got a goal from Tom Mele as well. In addition, Fort Wayne received assists from Chris Auger, Jean-Michel Rizk, and Kaleigh Schrock, who contributed one a piece.

The Mavericks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Nick Boucher rejected 24 shots on goal for Fort Wayne. The Komets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
