Allen falls to Laredo after surprising comeback

The Laredo Bucks rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over Allen.

Laredo never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Bucks fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Allen's Colton Yellow Horn at 17:50 in the first period. Laredo knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Adam Rivet at 14:41 in the second period. The Bucks scored the game winner at 18:06 in the third period on a goal by Rivet.

Laredo was sparked by Rusty Masters, who had one goal and one assist.

The Bucks were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 15.0 minutes per game Laredo had been spending in the box.

Neil Trimm also scored for Laredo. In addition, Laredo received assists from Trevor Hunt, who had two and Greg Moore and Matt Boyd, who contributed one a piece.

The Allen penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. Allen had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The 36 shots that Allen put on net surpassed Allen's average of 26.2 shots per game this season.

Allen was helped by Jim McKenzie, who finished with one goal. McKenzie scored 13:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Yellow Horn provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Brian McMillin and Marco Cousineau, who each chipped in one.

Ryan Rondeau rejected 34 shots on goal for the Bucks. Laredo registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Allen's Cousineau stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Allen registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
