Texas wins tough contest against Tulsa, 4-2

The Texas Brahmas and the Tulsa Oilers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Texas made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Dan Nicholls secured the win for the Brahmas with a goal in the second period.

By firing 26 shots on goal, Texas exceeded the 23 shots it averages per game this year.

The Brahmas were helped by Adam Hogg, who had one goal and one assist. Hogg scored 5:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. TJ Fox assisted on the tally. Texas additionally got points from Chad Woollard, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Hogg, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jacques Perreault also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Tyler Barr, who had one.

Tulsa stifled Texas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Oilers were led by Troy Ofukany, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Ofukany scored on the power play 1:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tulsa. Tulsa had gained a power play chance when Fox was whistled for tripping. Gary Steffes picked up the assist. Tulsa also got points from Ofukany, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Tulsa got a goal from Michel Beausoleil as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Luke Lucyk and David Solway, who contributed one each.

Mark Guggenberger made 18 saves for the Brahmas on 20 shots. Texas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Steve Christie recorded 22 saves for the Oilers. Tulsa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
