Rio Grande Valley beats Bloomington 6-4 as Gendur gets hat trick

Dan Gendur lifted the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees to a 6-4 victory with a hat trick against the Bloomington Blaze.

Gendur notched his first tally 8:24 into the third period. He then added goals at 18:07 into the third and at 19:32 into the third.

Rio Grande Valley stifled Bloomington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 29 shots on goal, the Killer Bees exceeded the 22 shots they average per game this year. Rio Grande Valley outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Killer Bees average two goals per contest.

Rio Grande Valley additionally got points from Aaron Lee, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Brady Leavold, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Rio Grande Valley came via Jason Dixon, who had two, Brandon Campos, who had three, and Tomas Klempa and Scott Balan, who each chipped in one.

The Blaze were helped by Jon Booras, who registered one goal and one assist. Booras scored 2:13 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Mark Znutas provided the assist. Bloomington also got points from Booras, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Vladimir Nikiforov also scored for Bloomington. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Travis Granbois, who had three and Jason Dale and Kyle Laughlin, who contributed one each.

Rio Grande Valley's Wylie Rogers stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Killer Bees totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Zane Kalemba made 23 saves for Bloomington on 28 shots. The Blaze totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
