Quad City outlasts Rapid City, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Quad City Mallards escaped with a 3-2 victory over Rapid City.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Mickey Lang's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Quad City was led by Lang, who racked up one goal. Lang scored 6:13 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Quad City. Obi Aduba assisted on the tally.

The Mallards managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Quad City wound up below its season average of 15 penalty minutes per game. The Mallards put 40 shots on net during the contest, more than the 34 they average per game.

Quad City got a goal from Brandon Marino as well. More assists for Quad City came via Jared Brown, Justin Chwedoruk, Justin Hofstetter, John Snowden, and Jeremy Boyer, who each chipped in one.

Rapid City managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Rapid City finished below its season average of 18 penalty minutes per game. The 33 shots that Rapid City put on net surpassed Rapid City's average of 25 shots per game this season.

Rapid City was helped by Andrew Smale, who tallied one goal. Smale scored 18:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Rapid City. Konrad Reeder picked up the assist. Mike Vaskivuo also scored for Rapid City. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Jeff Kyrzakos and Patrick Knowlton, who contributed one each.

David McKee recorded 31 saves for Quad City. The Mallards registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Tim Boron made 37 saves for Rapid City on 40 shots. Rapid City registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
