The Arizona Sundogs and the Laredo Bucks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Arizona made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Kevin Petovello's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Sundogs got the win behind a great game by Craig Macdonald, who had two goals and one assist. Macdonald scored the first of his two goals short handed at 4:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Laredo. Arizona found itself down a man on Nathan ONabigon's slashing.
