TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa outscored their opponent 21-2 in two games. Both teams agreed to have the D3 Spartans play Hofstra on Sunday instead of the originally scheduled third matchup between the D2 Spartans and Hofstra.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Hofstra 1, Tampa 9
Records: Tampa (18-1-1), Hofstra (2-5-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1:
1st Period
- -The scoring began on a nice move from senior captain, Christian Kukas with an assist that came from senior alternate captain, Stephen Buck.
2nd Period
- -Four minutes into the 2nd period, Ryan Andrews placed one perfectly above the Hofstra goalie’s shoulder to give Tampa a 2-0 lead.
- -Tampa added another with a goal from Junior Alternate Captain Grant Parrish to increase their lead to 3.
- -On a powerplay opportunity, senior alternate captain, Josey Davis buried one to further extend Tampa’s lead.
- -Spartans’ Sophomore Jack Manware scored his first of the night to close the period with a score of 5-0 Tampa.
3rd Period
- -Hofstra came out in the third with a goal to break Tampa’s shutout.
- -It did not take long for the Spartans to respond as Jack Manware scored again to give him his second of the night.
- -Manware then completed the hat trick with help from Justin Evans and Vinny Digiorgio.
- -Tampa kept rolling with a goal from senior Gus Aldridge.
- -The Spartans closed out the game with a goal from Parrish to give him his second of the night.
GAME 2: UT vs. HOFSTRA
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Hofstra 1, Tampa 12
Records: Tampa (19-1-1), Hofstra (2-6-1)
Location: Clearwater Ice Arena | Clearwater, FL
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Period
- -The Spartans started the scoring with a goal from Tyler Kelly, a sophomore playing in his first game with the Spartans.
- -Tampa added onto their lead with a goal from sophomore Connor Berry and assists from Matt Needleman and Jack Manware.
- -Junior Frank Catalina scored another for the Spartans making it 3-0, Tampa
- -Kelly got his second of the night on his second shot of the game to close out the period with a 4-0 lead for the Spartans.
2nd Period
- -Tampa scored another powerplay goal from Junior Grant Parrish with assists coming from his fellow alternate captains Buck and Davis.
- -Billy Cody tacked on another for the Spartans to give Tampa a 6-0 lead.
- -The Spartans kept the scoring going as sophomore, Ryan Andrews buries home a nice goal.
- -On another powerplay the Spartans conducted a little tic-tac-toe to set up Christian Kukas for a one-timer and a goal.
- -Kelly finished off his hat trick in his first game in a UT jersey to close the period at 9-0.
3rd Period
- -Tampa did not stop there as they scored another goal from Cody for his second of the night.
- -Matthew Needleman added two nice goals in the final frame to give Tampa a 12-0 lead.
- -Hofstra did not quit as they scored once to end the scoring in the 3rd with a final of 12-1.
