Danbury – Danbury flexed their muscles offensively, banging out a season-high 22 hits and hitting six home runs on their way to a 16-8 victory over the North Adams Steeplecats Thursday evening.

With the hot weather in western Connecticut, the Westerners used it to their advantage. After a scoreless top of the first, Sonny Ulliana and Caleb Upshaw connected on back to back home runs over the left field fence to give Danbury a 3-0 lead after one inning of play. While Sheehan continued to dominate on the mound, the offense hit its stride, tacking on another two runs to put North Adams against a wall early.

After cruising through the first three innings, Sheehan would run into trouble in the fourth, surrendering three runs, two coming from a two-run home run by Kevin Brophy to make it 5-3. However the Westerners starting pitcher would get more support from the offense. In the bottom half of the frame, Alex Bello would rip a solo home run over the right field fence to begin a two-run inning for Danbury, opening the lead to four.

in the following inning, Bello would strike again, hitting a ball to straight away center field for his second home run of the game to extend the lead more. The Westerners would go on to hit six home runs in the game to propel them to the blowout victory against the top team in the Northern Division of the NECBL.

“The guys are locked in right now,” said manager Josh Parrow. “They are looking at the future for their careers. We are in a really good place offensively. We just have to stay consistent and locked in.”

Alex Bello led the charge by going 5-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs and Sonny Ulliana went 3-4 with two home runs and three RBIs.

The win goes to Jason Goetz while the loss is charged to Joe Kemlage. The Westerners look to make it three wins in a row when they welcome New Bedford to Connecticut on Saturday for a doubleheader.
