Waves Dominate Week 8, First Duo to Win Co-Player of the W...
Date: Apr 7, 2026

It was an impressive week of baseball for the teammate pitching pair of Carson Johnson and Bryce McKnight who are our pitchers of the week and our hitter of the week Justin Hackett.
Two of our pitchers returning this summer made history on Tuesday with San Diego State University’s 10th no-hitter in program history. McKnight and Johnson were two of the five pitchers on the mound for the game to help secure the 1-0 win against UC Riverside. The five pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts to help the Aztecs extend their winning streak to a season-high four games.
Johnson pitched two innings during the no-hitter victory, allowing zero hits or earned runs with an impressive three strikeouts. This was Johnson’s first win in an Aztec uniform. McKnight came into follow with a clean eighth-inning performance putting up zeroes across the board, with no runs, hits or walks.
McKnight made another appearance in their weekend series against the University of New Mexico, where he allowed just one hit and one walk, while recording two strikeouts during the series.
Senior Justin Hackett from Bryant University had a season-high two home runs in the Bulldogs game against the University of Albany last week contributing to their win on Friday. He also recorded three RBIs and a triple with .357 batting average.
We look forward to welcoming hitter Hackett and the strong pitching duo of McKnight and Johnson back to the Ocean State this summer! For real-time updates on current and former Waves, be sure to follow us on Instagram and X @OceanStateWaves.
