Shaun Vigeant arrives to Newport following his sophomore season with the Rhode Island College Anchormen. During the spring at RIC, he started 37 games and recorded 31 hits, seven of which were extra-base hits, and scored 25 runs. He had a very strong freshman season at RIC, where he was named Second-Team All-Little East after batting .309 with eight extra-base hits and 14 RBI.


A native of Coventry, Rhode Island, he attended Coventry High School, where he was named to the Rhode Island Senior All-Star Team during his senior year.  He is also an athletic swimmer, selected to the All-State Team while at Coventry High School. Beginning the summer on a temporary contract with the Gulls, he was called back up in July for the remainder of the season.
