Only six months of playing baseball in 2014 after 15 years out of the sport. Spent the last nine years as a sport psychology professor and coach and has earned a doctorate in sports psychology from the University of Missouri. Former professional track and field athlete (2004 Olympic Trials). Was an 8-time NCAA All-American and National Champion in the shot put.  All-State in four sports - Track and Field, Baseball (with team), Wrestling, and Football at Excelsior Springs High School. Highlight of prep baseball career was hitting two home runs in a game off future Texas Rangers’ minor league outfielder Andrew Wishy. Chose field events instead of baseball in college due to an injured throwing arm. Was starting tight end on the football team as a sophomore, helping Excelsior Springs win the 3A State Championship. Named Missouri High School athlete of the year in 1999, beating out future Los Angeles Laker Kareem Rush.
