Whitenack enters his first season with the Ducks and in the Atlantic League. The North Massapequa native enters his fifth year of professional baseball. Last season, he pitched in the Cleveland Indians organization, reaching as high as Double-A Akron. Over 19 appearances (17 starts), the SUNY Old-Westbury alum struck out 48 batters in 83 innings.

The 25-year old spent the first three seasons of his professional career in the Chicago Cubs organization, reaching as high as Double-A Tennessee in 2011. That year, he went a combined 7-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 11 starts with Tennessee and Single-A Daytona. Entering 2014, the righty owns a 4.52 ERA in 88 career appearances (82 starts). Whitenack was originally drafted by the Cubs in the eighth round of the 2009 amateur draft.
