Albaugh, 23, posted a .310 batting average during his four-year collegiate career with the NCAA D-II Kutztown University Golden Bears. As a senior in 2013, he hit .344 with a home run and 29 RBI in 44 games and was on the watch list for the Tino Martinez Award, which goes to the top NCAA Division II baseball player every year. He was also named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division First Team for the second time in his career.

Behind the plate, Albaugh threw out 35% of opposing base stealers and had a .995 fielding percentage.

As a freshman, Albaugh helped Kutztown University reach the NCAA Division II World Series by hitting a home run in the Atlantic Regional tournament.
