Collin Janssen is a 6'4" catcher who will be playing his first season with the Florence Freedom in 2013. After graduating from Bryan High School in Texas in 2008, Janssen attended Temple Junior College. He played two years of baseball at Temple before transferring to Concordia University Texas, where he finished his college career. In his first season with Concordia, Janssen alternated positions between pitcher and catcher. He batted .377, hit 2 home runs, and drove in 29 runs. He also pitched in 8 games and finshed the year with a 2-1 record, 21 strikeouts, and a 4.88 ERA. He followed up his first season with Concordia by batting .331, hitting 5 home runs, and driving in 36 runs in the 2012 season. He did not, however, make any pitching appearances. After concluding his collegiate baseball career, Janssen appeared in 4 games for the San Angelo Colts of the North American League before signing with the Florence Freedom.
