Avery Cook is in his first year with the ThunderBolts and first as a professional in 2025. He signed as a free agent on July 24, 2025 after completing his senior season at Purdue, where he led the Big Ten with 28 appearances. He went 4-2 with a 4.50 ERA and nine saves.

Overall, Cook spent four years at Purdue and finished his career with the sixth most appearances (72) in school history. He also ranked fifth all-time at Purdue with 14 career saves. Overall, he was 5-4 with a 4.93 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 96.2 innings. Prior to Purdue, Avery spent one year at St. John's University but did not appear in a game for the Red Storm. He attended Whitesboro High School in Marcy, New York.
