Carter had 37 hits, nine doubles, six home runs, and 19 RBI in 52 games for the Patriots last season.
Carter has experience in the Chicago Cubs and Oakland Athletics organizations.
He spent the beginning of the 2011 season at the Double-A level with Midland of the Texas League, hitting two homeruns and seven RBI during 21 games.
In 2010 he had 27 hits, a homerun, and eight RBI in 41 games for Midland. He also spent part of the season in the Arizona Rookie League as well as with Stockton at the Single-A level.
Carter batted .318 with 14 homeruns and 52 RBI in 352 at bats during the 2009 season while playing with Midland.
He has 479 hits, 92 doubles, 72 homeruns and 303 RBI in 1,951 at bats for his career.
