After his Georgia Bulldogs made a run at the College World Series, Connor Tate arrives in Sanford looking to become a key piece in the Mainer infield.  Before heading to Athens, Tate was a two-way high school standout. In his senior season at Oconee High School, he batted .391 with five doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 21 runs batted in, 39 runs, and 17 stolen bases.  He was also the team’s closer, picking up a school record nine saves and 34 strikeouts with a 1.01 earned run average in 21 innings.  He concentrated on hitting in his time with the Bulldogs which paid off in his freshman season.  After redshirting his first year on campus, he developed into a consistent hitter, batting .262 with two home runs and 16 runs batted in.
