After three seasons in the Boston Red Sox minor league system, southpaw Lance McClain joins the Jackals for 2011.

McClain spent 2010 with the Advanced-A Salem Red Sox and posted a 2-2 record with a 4.50 ERA in 29 outings. In 2009, McClain appeared in a career-high 36 games for the Single-A Greenville Drive and struck out 84 batters in 66.2 innings while going 2-2 with a 3.51 ERA and six saves.

McClain was a 12th round draft pick by the Red Sox in 2008 out of Cumberland (Tenn.) College. The Knoxville, Tenn., native also spent a year at the University of Tennessee, where he made 13 starts as a sophomore in 2007.

In three professional seasons, McClain, who has made 86 of his 87 career appearances in relief, is 8-4 with a 3.69 ERA and 12 saves.
