Hoese is one of two Tulane players on the Newport roster this season (J. Bates). Over the course of his sophomore season, Hoese started all 55 games for the Green Wave and ended up third on the team in batting average (.296), second in hits (63), second in total bases (95), and third in runs batted in (32).
The Gulls have the option to use Hoese in many infield positions this summer as he entered Tulane ranked the No. 1 shortstop in Indiana but has spent much of his time at third base while a Green Wave. He slings the ball across the diamond with great force while also having the ability to get to balls in the hole or down the line, rare for a player with his 6’4” frame. Kody was taken in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals in the 35th Round.
